You Are My Anchor

This a special appreciation post for one of the greatest bands that I have loved since I was a kid.

Skillet.

For as long as I can remember I have been listening to them since I was probably ten or eleven years old. Over the years, as I got older after what it seemed like I was starting to lose my faith I came across their newest album “Victorious” and I fell in love. Every single song from the album is just pure gold! It gives me so much joy knowing that songs like these can make a difference in someone’s life.

On the 24th of August I had seen Skillet at the Complex in Salt Lake City. And let me tell you I was completely blown away! My heroes from my child hood is now here right before my eyes.

One of my favorite songs so far from their new album has to be “Anchor

Skillet had said on the Genius website, “It’s easy to feel like we are being tossed around on the waves of life. Back and forth and so on and it gets confusing to know what to do. Who to listen to. Which direction to turn because sometimes you just feel lost at sea. This song is about that person, or people, or even higher power that you know you can count on to never fail you and guide you through the storm.

This song made me realize how many people I can trust in this life. I am so thankful that whenever I have anything to deal with I can turn to my close friends and especially my family. And maybe soon, I can work with fixing my relationship with God.

Another song that holds a special place in my tiny little heart is the iconic “Awake And Alive” oh boy, I was emotional when it came on. Because now that I am finally understanding the mearnings behind these songs I really should “do what I want ’cause this is my life […]”

If I should be honest.

There was one thought that lingered in the back of my mind. ‘What if someone came in here and just started shooting everyone? Where are the nearest exit?’

Sad to think that this was on my mind.

In lighter words, to John Cooper, Korey Cooper, Jen Ledger, and Morrison Seth thank you so much for everything you have done for all of us. Sharing your songs and stories with your fans is something we will cherish for as long as we live.

You can now support this blog by buying me a cup of coffee on ko-fi!

Take care!
